Jigsaw Puzzle - More Than a PuzzleThere they are - a motley crew of little jigsaw puzzle pieces, which want to be put together to complete works in a patience work lasting several hours. But what is it that attracts billions of people throughout the world to spend their time on this seemingly hard and time-consuming task? Is it, perhaps, the feeling of "creating" a landscape by oneself? Or maybe this pleasure in finding those little pieces and put them together to "complete works"? Or is it this "relaxing effect" that has jigsaw puzzling on the interior stressed by environmental conditions, and the pleasant impact on the soul?
Jigsaw puzzles already exist since more than 200 years. They were produced in order to give pupils an understanding of geography with the help of jig-sawed maps. But very soon the "teaching material jigsaw puzzle" became an entertaining pastime and the maps were replaced by idyllic landscapes. In the mid 60s they succeeded in replacing the expensive wood material by pressed pieces of cardboard. Now a real boom started. The assortment of motives increased by leaps and bounds and by now billions of pictures are pressed in little pieces. Also in today's computer era, jigsaw puzzling is still a favourite pastime. Putting together jigsaw puzzle pieces on the screen attracts more and more fans, since it offers decisive advantages, being just as entertaining.
- the jigsaw puzzle pieces don't have to be cleared away after each session - also for big pictures a "small table" is sufficient - no jigsaw puzzle pieces can get lost - it's much more cheaper - the question "Where place the completed image?" does not arise - online jigsaw puzzle can be called up from any place in the world
